If you’ve never had to deal with roofers before, they’re notorious for making appointments or saying they’ll get back to you and never do. Rafael actually showed up when he said he would. We had a section of roof decking break which caused a sag on our ridgeline. Rafael came out, climbed the roof, then used a drone to inspect it from a higher vantage. He said this was repairable, he’d have to find shingles that would be a close match, and would send us an estimate shortly. About three days later, the estimate came via email. There was an option to accept the estimate, and within a few hours, Rafael called to let us know he would be here on Friday. He said he wanted to come over Thursday to remove one of our shingles to take as a sample. He and his team showed up Thursday. He said he had an idea and asked if he could access our attic, which we allowed. He determined he could fix the issue without having to remove shingles. He and a partner went into the attic with wood and braced the decking while a few of his team members stood on the ridge to ensure it was sturdy and would hold their weight. Afterward, he said there was no need to come on Friday and would send us the bill. Rather than charging us for the quoted amount, he reduced the price by a few hundred dollars! Rafael is smart, dedicated, professional, and honest (another difficult quality to find in a roofer). We have had serious leaking issues that had badly degraded the ceiling of one room in our building and we really did not know what to do. Shield Roofing not only found out exactly where the leak was, they were able to explain it to us so that we finally understood what was happening. They not only repaired the main problem, but left the waterproofing in our balcony in better condition than it had ever been before.
